Campton Township Highway District Mailbox Policy

MAILBOX INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

Please check to make sure your mailbox is installed correctly so that your mail carriers and the township road crews can serve you better.


  • Mailboxes should be located on the right-hand side of the roadway in the direction of the delivery route except on a one-way street, it should be placed on the left hand side.


  • The bottom of the mailbox must be 41 to 45 inches from the roadway surface. The front of the mailbox must be 6 to 8 inches back from the edge of the curb or roadway.


  • Put your house or apartment number on the mailbox


  • If your mailbox is on a different street from your house or apartment, put you full street and address on the box.


  • The post should be 4x4- inch wood post or a 2 inch thin wall steel pipe designed to breakaway on a vehicle impact.
