Mailbox Repair/Replacement Policy

1. If your mailbox or post receives damage due to snow plowing, adhered to USPS guidelines and was in good working condition (no rotted or rusted posts) please contact the Highway District 630-365-9300

2. Extravagant mailboxes made of stone; brick or any other heavy materials are not within the USPS guidelines and will not be repaired or reconstructed by the Highway District.

3. If the Highway District determines that a plow truck was responsible, we will replace it with a temporary post and/or mailbox.

4. A permanent replacement consisting of a 4” x 4” wooden post and/or standard mailbox if the original mailbox cannot be salvaged and will be installed in the spring or when the weather permits that meets the USPS guidelines.

Note: There is not a State Statute requirement for the Highway District to be responsible for the repair or replacement of damaged mailboxes due to plowing. Four of Kane County’s  sixteen Township Highway Districts have elected to repair damaged mailboxes. The  Campton Township Highway District has elected to repair damaged mailboxes during snow  plowing if the USPS guidelines were met.
